The winter break has finally ended, and with the break over, the start of the 2025 Formula 1 season now begins. The Australian Grand Prix kicks off the first of 24 races this year. Starting in Melbourne at Albert Park. Lewis Hamilton will drive his first official race for Ferrari, with multiple rookies on the grid and a high chance of rain on Sunday. Join us for live coverage of the second Free Practice Session of 2025.

Early expectations for the first race of 2025

After pre-season testing, McLaren seems to be the team that everyone is looking at. Many teams, analysts, and fans have already backed McLaren as the one to beat. After ending as World Constructors Champions, McLaren begins the season on a high with much to prove. Whether or not McLaren dominates the season is not the only question on people's minds. Many people are wondering if Lando Norris will finally be able to beat Max Verstappen. After many mistakes at the beginning of last season, Norris was not able to catch up to Verstappen’s lead. Will he be able to do so this year?

The Australian Grand Prix is acting as the season opener for the first time since 2019. In 2024, Carlos Sainz won at the Albert Park Circuit after Max Verstappen retired with a brake issue. The Spaniard will most likely not be fighting for wins at his new Williams team but is still full of optimism heading into a new challenge. Lewis Hamilton will be searching for his 106th Grand Prix victory and his first with Ferrari in Melbourne. These practice sessions will be crucial for the Brit to acclimatise himself with his SF-25 before competitive action follows with qualifying on Saturday.
