Toto Wolff: Staying out of trouble is key in Baku
Toto Wolff insists staying out of trouble around Baku is just as important as performance. Both Red Bull and Ferrari will bring upgrades ahead of the Azerbijian Grand Prix.
The Silver Arrows have produced three one-two's so far in 2019, but that doesn't make their boss feel complacent.
"We know that we need to keep pushing," Wolff said in an interview with Sky Sports.
"The layout of the track presents unique challenges and it will be interesting to see which team will find the best compromise to deal with the mixture of long straights and slow corners."
Mercedes won't add any upgrades to their car this weekend, but their rivals will in an attempt know them off the top. In reply, Wolff insists the track isn't all about performance.
Last year's race in the streets of Baku was frantic. Valtteri Bottas was on for a race win until he picked up a puncture in the closing stages so Wolff knows what can happen.
"Baku is not purely about performance, though, and staying out of trouble is also important for a good result in Azerbaijan," he added.
