First win is not an "obsession" for Leclerc
After coming in close in Bahrain and showing promise in the following races, Charles Leclerc has insisted that he isn’t obsessed with achieving his first F1 win and he just wants to improve in the Ferrari car.
Leclerc has been unfortunate in the season so far, with team orders and reliability issues causing him to lose several good positions. In Bahrain, a short circuit issue cost the Monegasque a maiden Formula 1 race win, he eventually finished third, whilst team orders in Australia and China have cost him decent positions.
In an interview on Motorsport, the Ferrari man admitted he’s got other aims other than getting his first race win.
"It is not an obsession," said Leclerc.
“My obsession at the moment is to do it in the car as well as possible and to get the full potential out of it.
“Then I am sure that the results will come.
“I am of course waiting impatiently for this moment [the first victory] and I am working hard for that, but it is not an obsession.
“I don't think that would be a good approach to a weekend just by thinking of winning, I'm just trying to get the best out of the car.”
