Vettel on his and Hamilton's mutual respect
Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton have had their fair share of rivalry moments down the years, but the German has insisted there is a mutual level of respect between the pair.
The pair have nine World Championships between them, and have gone head to head for the title in the last two seasons in particular. The pair came to blows at the 2017 Azerbaijan Grand Prix when the German turned into his rival.
Talking to the Mirror Vettel highlighted his respect for Hamilton, saying: “We are now on a level where everyone knows: I do my job well and try to make it better and better, but the other one can do it really well.
“It's not that I do not respect the other Formula 1 drivers, but Lewis is already out.
“You can feel it when it's mutual, I think it's important, that to perceive and understand oneself.
"That does not mean that I am happy when I finish behind him.
Vettel also added how the two differ in their public image: “Sure, we are very different in private, but one has nothing to do with the other.”
