Liveblog: Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix - Qualifying
Turn the engines up because it's time for the first mega important session of the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend. Who is going to be starting from the front? Has Ferrari closed the gap? Follow the updates to find out!
What's happened so far?
Valtteri Bottas had a perfect Friday, finishing top of the timesheets on both occasions. But his Saturday morning wasn't something he can be proud of. He got his Mercedes stuck in the gravel.
Ferrari managed to split the two Mercedes drivers in FP1, but couldn't prevent the German team recording a one-two in FP2. However, they looked stronger on Saturday morning as they look to replicate their pre-season form around Barcelona.
What about the rest?
Red Bull looked to be a bit off the pace in FP1, but Max Verstappen managed to get P5 in FP2. Both Haas cars look quick and could give Red Bull a headache if they keep it together. Meanwhile, Renault still looks far back despite their engine upgrade. McLaren, Alfa Romeo, Toro Rosso and Racing Point have had mixed results, while Williams sits at the back.
