Lewis Hamilton led home Valtteri Bottas in Spain for a fifth consecutive Mercedes 1-2.

Hamilton got a better start than Bottas off the line and overtook the Finn into turn one, holding the lead for the entire 66-lap race.

Ferrari struggled with pace all race, with Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc trailing Max Verstappen, who got his second podium of the season.

Lando Norris and Lance Stroll brought out the safety car with around 20 laps to go, but the order was unchanged despite the chaos. Battling into turn one, Stroll seemed to cut across Norris, sending the Canadian spinning and both out of the race.

Bottas was perhaps a little unlucky with the timing of his pit stop, having made a change of tyres just seconds before the incident happened.

Off the line, Hamilton, Bottas and Vettel were three wide before the German was squeezed off, allowing Verstappen to get by.

Vettel’s flat spotted tyre held up his team mate for a few laps before he was ordered to let Leclerc past, the Monegasque showing better pace in the early laps.

Hamilton also took the fastest lap, and retook the championship lead over Valtteri Bottas.

Haas recovered after a few dodgy races to pick up seven points, with Kevin Magnussen finishing seventh and Romain Grosjean 10th.

Carlos Sainz pleased his home crowd with an eight-placed finish, whilst Daniil Kvyat came in ninth for Toro Rosso.

Overall, it was another underwhelming race in Barcelona, and if it is the final one at this track, it most likely won’t be remembered all that fondly.
