Daniel Ricciardo says he is hoping for more Monaco magic in 2019 with Renault after a difficult start to the season with his new team.

The 78 lap race is one of the more difficult races mentally for the drivers, with barriers just inches away from ending their race.

Having been cruelly denied race victory back in 2016 but coming back with a vengeance last season to win, Ricciardo says it was a dream come true to not only take pole, but to experience a win at one of F1's most iconic venues.

"To take pole position in Monaco on two occasions is an amazing feeling, especially as you’re giving it full beans for just over a minute and your adrenaline is pumping," said Ricciardo.

"But to have won in Monaco is a dream come true and it was made even sweeter after missing out in previous years from excellent positions."

The Australian hasn't enjoyed much success since his move away from Red Bull to Renault in 2019, struggling in the midfield for most of the season.

Ahead of the 2019 Monaco race, Ricciardo admitted that it might be a tough task with the R.S.19 but that he wasn't counting a strong result out just yet.

"While repeating the pole and win in 2019 is unlikely, it doesn’t go away from the fact we have everything to play for and we’ll be pushing as hard as ever to ensure the best result possible. Anything can happen in Monaco."
