Alonso on watching Formula 1 races: "Sometimes it's fun and in others I am bored"
Fernando Alonso picked up his third FIA world championship by winning Le Mans 24 hours in the WEC on Sunday. Despite his busy racing career, he continues to watch Formula 1 races whenever he can.
It seemed as if the Spaniard was getting bored with Formula 1, but he admitted he enjoys some of the races.
"I follow everything I can. I missed three of the seven races live because I was racing but I try to watch the race later, and like all the fans, sometimes it's fun, and in others I am bored," Alonso told Corriere Dello Sport.
"But I think this happens in every sport. Sometimes you watch Barcelona vs Real Madrid to see a good match, and sometimes it's 0-0, and at other times it's 5-5."
The 37-year-old still has an empty schedule in 2020 meaning a return to Formula 1 is still possible. His failure in the Indy500 means he still has a missing jigsaw piece before completing the triple crown.
Earlier last week, Zak Brown said if Alonso wanted to return to F1 with McLaren, then he'd need three cars because of the quality in Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz.
