Steiner suggests Haas should "immediately start working on a new car"
Frustrations are bubbling inside Guenther Steiner. After another pointless weekend which included a DNF and a P17, the Haas boss believes the team might be better to start working towards 2020.
Last year, Haas was fighting Renault for the best of the rest position, but this year lie nowhere near. After making a promising start to the 2019 Formula 1 season, the team has gone backwards according to their boss.
"At the first race, we were good enough for sixth and seventh. This weekend we started 15th and 16th," Steiner is quoted by OneStopStrategy.
"Don't ask me what is happening. I don't know and I cannot answer, but we have to figure it out. We must somehow get out of this situation, but if we are depressed, it will mean that we have given up. And we never will. We need to cope with these negative emotions and continue to work hard. That is what I have just told our people."
Throughout the season, Haas has complained about the Pirelli tyres. Like many other teams, they can't seem to find the right balance. If this mystery continues, Steiner believes it'll be best for the team to begin work on a new car.
"If we cannot identify the cause, it will be impossible to work out the right solution. In that case, it's better to immediately start working on a new car," Steiner concluded.
