Tost on Kvyat: 'If he gets results, why not bring him back to Red Bull?'
- Nicolás Quarles van Ufford
Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost has praised his driver Daniil Kvyat, who is in his third stint at the team, as the Austrian says that on paper, Kvyat has the pace to make the promotion to Red Bull Racing again.
Kvyat, of course, already had a spell at the Bulls in 2015 and at the start of 2016, before being replaced by rising star Max Verstappen before the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix. Kvyat was eventually axed from Toro Rosso in 2017, before making his return at the start of this season.
The Russian has been lights-out since his return, consistently getting results for the side while remaining out of trouble, something which he wasn't able to do as well in his previous stints.
"We'll see how it crystalises in the future," he exclusively told Motorsport-Total.
"I would be happy if Daniil can get back to a top team like Red Bull. Why? Because I think he has the pace. When the circumstances are right, he can put in a very good performance.
"Performance is the deciding factor in Formula 1. If a driver brings performance, why wouldn't you bring him back?"
