Helmut Marko smiles again: "Things are going in the right direction"
Helmut Marko has been on the picky side in the build-up to the Austrian Grand Prix saying Pierre Gasly shouldn't interfere with Adrian Newey and the 'performance is unacceptable'. But, Max Verstappen's P2 ahead of Sunday's Formula 1 race put a smile back to Marko's face.
Verstappen has the ability to get the back-to-back win at Red Bull's home race. This what makes the 76-year-old pleased.
"Things are going in the right direction," Marko tells Auto Motor und Sport. "I am very happy as it is a great result for us on this circuit. It is always difficult here," he added in a conversation with APA Press Agency.
"Ferrari was a bit big for us, but they will start the race on the softs."
Interestingly enough, Marko also hints that the updates to Verstappen's car are unique. “There is only one set of them. That does not mean that everyone was in top form today. Max himself, the chassis and engine of Honda!"
