Max Verstappen secures incredible Austrian Grand Prix win!
Max Verstappen secured an incredible win at the Austrian Grand Prix as he recovered from a dreadful start to become the first driver from a team other than Mercedes to win a race this season with some fantastic overtakes.
The Dutchman dropped from second to seventh off the line, but recovered and pulled off a superb overtakes on Sebastian Vettel, Valtteri Bottas and Charles Leclerc to earn a phenomenal win. Leclerc, who was so cruelly denied victory in Bahrain earlier in the season, was so unlucky as some wheel to wheel action saw him finish second.
Valtteri Bottas came over the line in third to finish a disappointing weekend for Mercedes, who were beaten for the first time this season. The Finn was overtaken by Verstappen, just moments after Verstappen had complained about a power issue.
After a clean start, Lewis Hamilton was leading the Austrian Grand Prix on lap 26 for the first time since 2016. However, after running over a sausage curb the Brit’s speed dropped significantly resulting in a front wing change on lap 31. The stop caused Hamilton to drop to fifth and he finished there on a disappointing day for Mercedes.
However, it was the two youngsters who stole the show. Max Verstappen's gutsy and brave drive saw him defend his Austrian crown, but Leclerc who led for so long just came up short.
