Daniel Ricciardo "not ready" to extend Renault contract
Daniel Ricciardo has revealed that he would not sign a contract extension with Renault at the moment and would instead have to wait and see if they became competitive. The Aussie is contracted with the French team for next season but will wait before committing to the team for any longer.
“Right now, the answer is no. But not because I don’t trust Renault,” Ricciardo was quoted by GrandPXnews when asked if he would sign a contract extension with the team.
“I want to wait for the second part of the season. I expect some signs,” he explained. "I would like us to be fighting with McLaren for fourth place.”
The move to Renault has not been as successful as the Aussie would have hoped but success was never going to come quickly.
“It’s a change that allows me to improve as a driver and a person. I was under no illusions. You don’t just start winning overnight. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone even if that meant taking a risk."
Renault and Ricciardo will hope they can keep developing and finish the season as best of the rest and then look to challenge for podiums next season.
