Gasly: "We made some changes, reaping the first fruits of this work"
Pierre Gasly has revealed that they made some changes in order to help him improve and believes the signs of improvements at the British Grand Prix are a testimony to the work he and the team have been putting in.
Gasly finished fourth at the race at Silverstone, after qualifying sixth but topped the first practice session and was far more consistent over the whole weekend. It was also the first time the Frenchman had beaten his teammate this season, as Max Verstappen finished one place back in fifth.
With rumours continuing to swirl surrounding his future, Gasly has given an insight into some of the changes he has made to help him turn a corner.
"We sat down and studied how we could improve everything," said Gasly as quoted by Formula Passion.
"And we made some changes, reaping the first fruits of this work.
"The latest generation of Formula 1 cars is very complex, so it is essential that the driver and engineers have a deep understanding of the car. It is necessary to understand the effect of each change on the machine."
Gasly also spoke about how privileged he is to be at Red Bull adding: "There is no better seat in Formula 1 than a top team. I'm only 23 years old and I have the chance to finish on the podium in my second full season in F1."
