Mercedes arrive at Hockenheim with plenty of new parts
Even though Mercedes lead the Formula 1 world championship and have only lost one Grand Prix across the 2019 season, the German team are showing no signs of taking their foot off the gas.
Earlier in the week, it was confirmed Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas would race with a new chassis. But after the first pictures of the weekend emerge, it looks like the new chassis isn't the only upgrade on the Silver Arrow.
The Mercedes crew, who will be competing in their home Grand Prix, have started to build the car up ahead of the German Grand Prix weekend. Formula 1 journalist Tobi Grüner from Auto Motor und Sport has taken some sneaky photos. (Follow the link to view the photos).
The open rear mirrors seem to be making a return this weekend. This was introduced at Barcelona but wasn't present at Silverstone. The sidepods have extra slots which might also aid cooling as well as extra downforce.
The Silver Arrows struggled with the heat in the Austrian Grand Prix and high temperatures are once again forecast for the German Grand Prix this weekend.
