Seidl: "What was clear to me from the very beginning is that we have a great team"
McLaren have led the midfield battle for most of the season which has coincided with Andreas Seidl beginning his work with the team. The German has been reflecting on the first half of the F1 season.
Seidl joined McLaren on January 10th but didn't join up with the team until the 1st of May. His first race of the season was the Spanish Grand Prix and he has since overseen the team strengthening their grip on the best of the rest position, with a 39 point gap to fifth-placed Toro Rosso.
With Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris impressing for the Woking-based team things are looking good and Seidl has been reflecting on his opening stint as team principal.
"As you would imagine, McLaren is a well-established Formula 1 team. There are obviously a lot of good things in place, but at the same time there are areas which we need to address now step-by-step," Seidl said in his mid-season report.
Seidl also paid tribute to the people of McLaren adding: "What was clear to me from the very beginning is that we have a great team of very talented people with a lot of passion for what they are doing.
"We have a good mix of long-serving people with great experience, people who have also seen other motorsport series or organisations before joining McLaren, and we have extremely passionate and highly-qualified young people who are all excited for the future."
