Daniel Ricciardo reveals a big factor that led to him leaving Red Bull
Daniel Ricciardo has revealed that one of the main reasons he left Red Bull was due to the fact that his race engineer, Simon Rennie, was also leaving the team. The Australian racer said that this was the final factor that made him commit to his decision to leave.
"There were many reasons, but that Simon would leave, even if I stayed with Red Bull, played a big role," Ricciardo explains to Autosport. “If he had stayed, it might have turned out differently.
"I'm not sure if he was the deciding factor, there were, of course, some other things. Like the concerns about Honda and so on, but this was nevertheless an important factor in my decision."
Ricciardo may feel that he made the wrong decision after Renault's poor performances so far this season. He will hope that the team continues to develop over the next few years and that they can challenge for podiums and race wins before too long.
