Kimi Raikkonen continues to dislike media obligations even at Alfa Romeo
Kimi Raikkonen has had some classic moments with the media during his Formula 1 career. The Finnish driver shows just how much he loves talking to the media by hardly speaking to them at all!
When at Ferrari, he was obviously one of the main attractions to the media because of his team's world championship fight with Mercedes. During the winter, Raikkonen moved further down the grid as Charles Leclerc was selected to replace him.
Alfa Romeo draws less attention from the media, but being a 39-year-old former world champion, there's no real hiding place for The Ice Man. He was asked by Motorsport, whether he enjoys talking to the press more now he's at Alfa Romeo.
“Not really, but unfortunately I have no choice. That is the problem. I don't have much to say, but it's also part of my job," Raikkonen said.
“I still see it as before. The people who work in Formula 1 as journalists are almost always the same and almost always ask the same questions. This has not changed over the years, there are so many things that you are asked to talk about and share your opinion about."
The Finn enjoyed his time at Rally, where he had no obligations to the press. “Especially in my second year, when it was clear whether I would continue to race at Rally or do something else. In a way, I was very happy." Still, Raikkonen eventually returned to Formula 1 because of his love of racing against other drivers overcame the media.
