Max Verstappen: Honda is "spending so much time on the dyno" to push limits
Max Verstappen has revealed that Honda are spending a significant amount of time testing their engine in the dyno. Red Bull will be very pleased with the results Honda have given them so far this season and will hope for more race wins after the summer break.
Verstappen has revealed that Honda is doing more testing on the dyno than Renault did last year and that this has meant they are more aware of where their boundary is.
“We did have mechanical failures from the car, not that power unit, last year,” Verstappen said to Motorsportweek.com. “But they also came because we didn’t have the chance to test them to the limit."
Honda are doing things differently and the results speak for themselves.
“Honda is spending so much time on the dyno, and then we also find out the limits of our parts on the car. We never had that before, so you never had an idea it was strong enough.
“The only way you found out is by retiring. The whole preparation to get into the season is so much better, it’s why the car and power unit is very reliable.”
Honda has powered Red Bull and Toro Rosso this season and will de disappointed if they don't feature on the top step of the podium again this season.
