Wolff says Lauda family are set to sell shares in Mercedes F1
Toto Wolff says Niki Lauda's family will sell his shares in Mercedes F1 team after the summer break. Lauda passed away in May after a long battle with a lung problem. The three-time Formula 1 world champion was thought to own 10 percent of the Silver Arrows.
Wolff was asked by La Gazzetta Dello Sport if his family would keep the shareholding and he said: "No. We will make a decision about that after the summer break".
Lauda played a key role in signing Lewis Hamilton way back in 2013. Since his passing, Hamilton has been vocal about how much he owns to Lauda for making him sing on the dotted line. However, in 2019 Mercedes a tough contract decision with either Esteban Ocon and Valtteri Bottas. He was asked if he's missing Lauda in these discussions.
“Niki taking on Lewis in 2013 was a masterpiece, but these decisions involve many other people including the board of directors and my other collaborators,” Wolff said.
