Gasly is disappointed in Red Bull by the unexpected change
Pierre Gasly admits he's disappointed in Red Bull after they made a U-turn and decided to swap him for Alex Albon. The Frenchman also claims Red Bull have told him there's a chance of a return for the 2020 Formula 1 season.
Gasly will start his first race for Toro Rosso ahead of Albon after the Red Bull driver took an engine penalty. In an interview with RaceFans.net, Gasly reveals how and when Red Bull told him the news.
“I found out in the morning it’s been decided. Of course [it was] kind of a shock and [I’m] disappointed because it’s not what I had been told before," Gasly said.
“Whether I understand it or not is not going to change it, I didn’t spend too much time thinking about it. The only thing I need to focus on is performing in these nine coming races with Toro Rosso at my best and this is what I am going to focus on. I am not thinking about it now [2020 Red Bull drive], but that’s what they say, and for sure there will be other opportunities.”
