Pierre Gasly feels the same pressure from Red Bull at Toro Rosso
Pierre Gasly has had a difficult few weeks but is happy with the way he performed for Toro Rosso since returning. The Frenchman has said that there is still a lot of pressure on him to perform despite not driving for Red Bull anymore.
"It's a challenging time for me at the moment," Gasly said at the press conference. “They were intense days in terms of getting everything through the car and working with the new crew. We tried to get the most out of it. Eight races are ahead of Toro Rosso and I am focusing on improving and delivering the best performance on behalf of my team.”
Gasly has the same goals he had when he was at Red Bull and wants to impress enough to keep his seat in Formula 1.
“Be fast, score maximum points for the team. We are in a good position in the championship and I would like to contribute to that as much as possible."
When asked if the pressure is off him now he is driving at a smaller team he said, “No, you always have to give everything as a driver with the resources you have. So the targets remain the same for me in that respect."
Gasly will hope to impress again at the Italian Grand Prix this weekend.
