Lewis Hamilton reacts to booing on podium: "I hope it will change in the future"
Lewis Hamilton usually enjoys celebrating his success on the podium but at the Italian Grand Prix, things were different. The Mercedes driver finished third behind his teammate Valtteri Bottas and Charles Leclerc but was still booed by thousands of Italian fans.
“I cannot emphasize enough how grateful I am for those who encourage me here. To be filled with hatred in such a crowd. I greet you and acknowledge you because I see you all. I thank you from the bottom of my heart," Hamilton said.
“Italy, wow, your energy could be heard all over the world today and I admire you enormously for that. The boo is not so nice, but it's okay, I can have it. I hope that it will change in the future and that we will no longer hear a boo in such a beautiful country. I wish you positivity and only good things in life anyway.”
There were rumors that Hamilton could join Ferrari at the end of his career but it is unlikely this will happen if the Tifosi continue to boo him.
