Abiteboul says Renault "have a better car overall" than McLaren!
Renaul team boss Cyril Abiteboul says that his team have an overall better package than McLaren, despite sitting 18 points behind the British team.
Last time round in Italy, Renault secured their best finish since their return to F1 in 2016, and following a fourth placed finish last season, they were expected to kick on and perhaps challenge the top three teams especially with star signing Daniel Ricciardo joining the team.
However, it's been a bit more difficult than that, as a resurgent McLaren have jumped ahead of them in the standings.
Despite this, Abiteboul still believes they have the better car. He told Motorsport.com: "I think they have a better chassis than we do in certain conditions, and we have a better car overall and a better chassis in other conditions.
"It's a fact, so I think it will depend on the characteristics of the track and who is able to take advantage of the opportunity it has.
"The goal was to finish fourth, and it still is. It seemed like a difficult goal, now it seems attainable, and that's what we're focusing on."
