Leclerc plays down that he is Ferrari's number one!
Charles Leclerc has played down the idea that he is Ferrari's number one driver despite his fantastic form admitting both him and Sebastian Vettel learn from each other.
Leclerc trailed his teammate until recently as he won both the Belgian and Italian Grand Prix becoming Ferrari's first winner of their home race since 2010. On both occasions, Leclerc won from pole but Vettel has struggled finishing behind the Mercedes pair.
The Monegasque's good form has led any to feel he is now Ferrari's number one driver as they prepare for the future. However, Leclerc has insisted he has “never felt” this way and that he learns from Vettel and Seb learns from him.
“I think overall the team – from the outside I don’t know if it looks different or whatever – from the inside of it it’s very balanced," Leclerc said as quoted by RaceFans.
"There have been situations in the past where I’ve helped Sebastian, some others where Seb helped me, and I think that’s the way forward for the team.
“The team is doing everything for its benefit and I think that’s the most important. We are here to perform at our best which is what we try to do. But at the end I’m very happy the way the team is at the moment.”
