Vettel admits he "peaked too early" after missing out on pole
Sebastian Vettel admits that he "peaked to early" during Q3 as he missed out on pole position to teammate Charles Leclerc, and was relegated to third by Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton.
Vettel set a scintillating lap on his first run during the final session of qualifying, and looked set for a first pole position since Canada until Leclerc and Hamilton both improved enough to go above him.
Following qualifying, he said to Sky Sports: "The final one should've been better but overall the car was making sense feeling good.
"Maybe I peaked a bit early, we had a tiny wobble [on his second run] and there was no point in finishing that lap.
"It puts us in a good position tomorrow. It should be a good race, let's see what the tyres are going to do, if we can push for the two hours or will we have to manage them."
