Lewis Hamilton "tried something different" in Q3
Lewis Hamilton says he "tried something different" in the final sector of his final Q3 lap. The Mercedes driver qualified in second place but was pleased with his lap as he felt that he had got everything out of the car.
"I tried something different in a certain corner compared to the previous lap and my delta went from being level to then gaining a tenth and a half," Hamilton said to the official F1 website.
"It was something I was thinking of trying throughout the weekend but hadn't yet gone and done it because my last sector was generally good and I didn't want to lose time.
"I didn't know what position I was fighting for or whether my teammate was doing a better job so I was just trying everything! I was really really happy when I went across the line and they said I was second."
Hamilton will hope to get a good start and challenge Charles Leclerc going into the first corner.
