Kvyat be back in the frame for Red Bull? Marko: "We know what he is capable of"
It seemed as if the fight for the second seat at Red Bull in 2020 was between Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon, but recent praise from Helmut Marko may have brought Daniil Kvyat back into the frame, with Marko calling the Russian "grown up".
Red Bull are still unsure over who will partner Max Verstappen in 2020, after switching Gasly and Albon over the summer break.
Verstappen has scored 212 of Red Bull's 311 points this season, so the need for a competitive teammate is evident, especially if Red Bull want to get closer to Mercedes and Ferrari in the Constructors' Championship.
Marko said to Russian news agency Tass: "Kvyat is having a good season.
"Unfortunately he has not been lucky from a technical point of view, but he is showing what we expect of him. We know what he is capable of.
"He has grown up, ceasing to be too emotional. There is no doubt that he is progressing."
