Gasly more at home with Toro Rosso: "Car suits the way I drive more"
- Tom Mason
Pierre Gasly was demoted to Toro Rosso after struggling for results with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing following the Hungarian Grand Prix as he was swapped with Alex Albon who made the step up. The Frenchman believes that driving for Toro Rosso has suited him better as a driver.
Since the move, he has secured two finishes inside the top ten in Belgium and Singapore, while in Italy in Russia he finished in 11th and 14th respectively.
"I think it’s more the fact that we managed to get a car that suits the way I drive a bit more, " Gasly was quoted by RaceFans.net.
"So I just feel like I can really push the way I want naturally without really trying to copy someone, or like I just really changed massively the way I drive slowly.
"The opportunities that [came] to me during the Grand Prix in Singapore gave me the opportunity to try new things.
"So I think it’s many factors put together that mean the way that I could show that I can race as I’ve always raced."
With five races remaining, Gasly sits sixth in the standings, McLaren driver Carlos Sainz just three points behind so there is plenty to play for in the remainder of the season.
