Lewis Hamilton: Valtteri Bottas “got a massive tow” worth 0.5s in fastest lap

Lewis Hamilton has said that because Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas “got a massive tow” worth 0.5s in his fastest lap it could make for an “interesting dynamic” going into qualifying on Sunday.
During practice on Friday while setting times on qualifying runs Bottas was down on Hamilton by three tenths before receiving a tow in the second and third sectors to end up finishing quicker than the Brit on a 1:27.785, a tenth quicker than Hamilton.
Part of the reason the time gained was so much was because the Finn received it on the back straight of Suzuka, allowing him to pick up a vast amount of speed according to the five-time world champion.
"There's always time to find at this track, there's always areas that you're weak at,” Hamilton said (quoted by Motorsport.com).
“This is not, I would say, my strongest of circuits, and there's always areas you can improve.
"Valtteri got a massive tow on his fastest lap, he gained like half a second on the back straight.
"So it's an interesting dynamic, because you don't want to be behind someone through the first part, because you need clean air, but if you're lucky and you get a slipstream late on it's perfect."
Who do you think will qualify on pole in Suzuka on Sunday?
