LIVE | Formula 1 2019 Japanese Grand Prix qualifying - Who will take pole?
Formula 1 continues to throw up more trials and tribulations with Typhoon Hagibis wreaking havoc in Japan. We are set for a bumper day at Suzuka, with qualifying and the race all set to take place within a few hours of each other.
FP2 to decide qualifying?
Despite qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix being delayed until Sunday 2AM BST, we could still see the results from FP2 decide how we lineup come lights out. If qualifying is cancelled we'll see Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton lineup on the front row, after their package upgrade gave them the edge over their rivals once again. Ferrari, who have had so much success in recent races, will start the race fourth and fifth having been beaten by Max Verstappen in FP2.
Red Bull will be hoping for a strong showing at Suzuka given their mixed recent form and even more so with it being Honda's home race. Whether they are able to pull a result out of the bag for their engine provider remains to be seen, but it would be a very special moment for the team if they did.
McLaren are once again at the front of the midfield battle with both drivers finishing inside the top ten in FP2. However, there has been no change in fortunes for Williams who are bringing up the rear again.
