Hamilton: Ferrari "go to another level"
Lewis Hamilton says that Ferrari have the faster car as the Italians took a dominant front row lockout in qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix, with Hamilton left down in fourth, behind teammate Valtteri Bottas.
Ferrari took their fifth pole position in a row since the summer break, proving that they really do have the quickest car over one lap in the sport right now.
After qualifying, Hamilton told Sky Sports that he believes Mercedes can keep the Scuderia honest during the race, but that it will be tough to overtake: "Ferrari obviously turn up and go to another level which we can't really compete with, power wise.
"I think Ferrari have the faster car... I think we've got a solid car and we'll hopefully be able to give them a race and a run for their money.
"But they're very quick on the straights."
