Gasly admits that he's "very happy" with his performance in Japan

Pierre Gasly recorded an eighth-place finish at the Japanese Grand Prix and the Frenchman has been looking back at how his race weekend went in Suzaka. The result means the Toro Rosso driver ends the weekend in the seventh position in the drivers' standings.
Gasly qualified in 9th earlier in the day in the rescheduled qualifying and admitted that he was surprised by this given the lack of preparation for the session.
"I’m very happy with today! It started well this morning as I made it to Q3 and qualified ninth. We didn’t expect to make it there after such short preparation since I missed both FP1 and FP3 ," Ricciardo said in Toro Rosso's end of race report.
" I spent most of the race running in P7 and P8, it was intense as Renault and Racing Point were pushing very hard.
"We had a suspension issue in the middle of the race which made it quite tough, so I just gave it everything I had inside of the car to keep the position."
