Gasly and Kvyat at Alpha Tauri in 2020? Tost hopes they stay
Franz Tost believes Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat took the jump to move from Toro Rosso to Red Bull too early. Both drivers are now back at the Red Bull junior team after ill-fated spells at F1's top table.
Gasly represented Red Bull during the opening half of 2019 having made the step up after one season in F1. Unfortunately for the Frenchman, it didn't play out how he would have hoped and by the Belgian Grand Prix was back at Toro Rosso with Alex Albon partnering Max Verstappen as Red Bull looked towards 2020.
Kvyat also had a brief spell with Red Bull before he was dropped for Max Verstappen back in 2016 and Franz Tost believes the opportunity came too soon for them.
"Maybe they went to Red Bull a little too early," Tost told Auto Hebdo.
"I often say that I find it ideal to work with a driver over a three-year period.
"We'll see what Red Bull decides for next year; both are very fast and we are very satisfied with their work."
Tost also hinted at Toro Rosso's, Alpha Tauri from 2020, lineup for next year, adding: "Personally, I hope that Daniil and Pierre will continue with us in 2020.
"The choice should be announced at the end of October, after the Mexican Grand Prix."
