Vettel tops FP2 as Albon crashes out - FP2 report
Sebastian Vettel controlled FP2 to top the standings with an impressive display followed by Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. It was a session to forget for Alex Albon as he spun out and crashed.
Vettel made a statement of intent as he topped the standings in a time of 1:16.607. He beat out Max Verstappen who was 0.115 back, whilst Charles Leclerc who had a spin of his own during the session finished almost half a second further back, failing to match his teammates impressive standard.
Mercedes were unable to match their nearest rivals as Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton finished fourth and fifth respectively. Bottas had a minor scare as he spun out at turn 12 but was still able to beat Hamilton who finished almost a second behind.
Alex Albon has outscored his teammate since joining Red Bull but his FP2 came to a premature end when he spun out at turn seven and shunted his car into the wall. It brought the session to a standstill as the red flag came out whilst the marshalls recovered his car.
Toro Rosso were one of the surprise packages as they were best of the rest during the second session of the weekend. Pierre Gasly was as high as second at one point before finishing seventh whilst Daniil Kvyat finished one place higher come the end of the session.
The McLaren pair of Carlos Sainz (P8) and Lando Norris (P10) and Nico Hulkenberg (P9) completed the top ten.
