Hamilton praises Mercedes team for "raising the bar" in F1
Lewis Hamilton has dished out the praise for Mercedes once again. He thanks the team for their hard work during the 2019 Formula 1 season as he says they've "continued to raise the bar" in F1. The German team walk away from 2019 with their sixth consecutive double world championship.
Hamilton, who won Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, goes into the winter break with the momentum as he recorded one of his most dominant wins ever. To close the season, he thanked all of those involved within the team and, of course, the fans.
"What a way to end the season! As a team, as a whole, we’ve been very strong this weekend and Valtteri did a great job today as well. I’m just so grateful for everyone’s continued hard work and dedication this year, we continue to raise the bar together," Hamilton said.
"This has probably been the biggest year of growth for us as a team, so I hope that that will put us in a good position for a new challenge next year. I’ve had some great races with Valtteri, Max and Charles this year and I anticipate that it will be even tougher competition in 2020. These guys will be working flat out to try and raise the bar, so I’m under no illusion that I will have to do the same this winter, but I wholeheartedly think I can."
Throughout his career, Hamilton has been hungry and desperate for success. The six-time world champion turns 35 in January but he isn't showing any signs of slowing down. In 2020, he could match Michael Schumacher's illusive seven titles. The Brit insists he feels ready for another challenge.
"I feel fresh and just ready to keep going and I’m looking forward to another challenge next year," Hamilton added.
