Marko warns "don’t write Vettel off just yet"
Sebastian Vettel had one of his more frustrating seasons in 2019 finishing down in fifth, but Helmut Marko has insisted do not write the four-time World Champion off just yet.
Vettel finished fifth in the Drivers' Championship in 2019 winning just one race, the Singapore Grand Prix and scoring 240 points. It meant he finished below his new teammate, Charles Leclerc who achieved two race wins as he showed his talent.
Vettel was a four-time World Champion when Lewis Hamilton only had one title to his name but the German is without a title victory since 2013 and the Mercedes dominance ensued.
Helmut Marko worked with the German at Red Bull and he admitted Vettel may no longer be in his prime but didn't want to rule him out for any further success just yet.
“Unfortunately, I have to say that he is no longer among the best. Maybe Sebastian is a bit too honest," Marko told Motorsport-Week.
“He was spoiled by Red Bull because we always spoke honestly with one another.
"Ferrari is known for politics within the team, but don’t write Vettel off just yet."
