Charles Leclerc has revealed his "only idol" growing up was Ayrton Senna. The Ferrari driver, who won two races during the 2019 F1 season, has progressed quickly through the ranks. The man from Monaco spent one year at Sauber before being handed the promotion.

When asked by a fan at the Autosport International Show, Leclerc didn't show any signs of hesitation on naming a driver from the past who he'd love to race against. "Ayrton Senna, without a doubt!"

The 22-year-old was born three years after the three-time world champion had his fatal crash. Even though the young Ferrari superstar hasn't met or seen his idol in action, Leclerc informs the audience about how Senna inspired him.

"He's the only idol I look up to, even though I've never met him in real life. He was a person who has always inspired me a lot, so if I had to choose a driver, that would be him," Leclerc added.
