Coronavirus is one of the most talked-about subjects around the globe. With more and more sporting events that were due to be held in China in the coming months getting cancelled, it's looking likely Formula 1 will do the same. There's been no official word yet, and Christian Horner hopes they are using this time to do their homework.

F1 meeting

Formula E, golf and snooker have all cancelled events due to be held in China over the next two months. The Formula 1 circus is due to arrive on April 19, and the Vietnamese Grand Prix also has uncertainty due to the lack of flights. Can these races go ahead?

Talking to Speedweek, Horner announced at a press gathering for Aston Martin Red Bull Racing that the situation is being monitored.

“We are watching the situation very carefully. And I am convinced that the Formula 1 bosses will do their homework very thoroughly in this case and make the right decision about postponing or deleting this race," Horner said.

Short-term

The decision could well be made in the short term because according to Horner there will already be a meeting soon. On 5 February (coming Wednesday), the leaders of Formula 1 management will meet to discuss the situation surrounding the virus.

Max Verstappen was also at the Red Bull press moment and said he was not worried. "It doesn't look good right now, because we can't even go there now that all flights have been cancelled. However, I am not worried about it. We will see what happens," the Dutchman concludes.
