Romain Grosjean says Haas have "learned a lot" from 2019 struggles
Romain Grosjean says that his Haas F1 team have learned a lot from their disastrous 2019, where they finished ninth in the constructors' standings, only above Williams. In 2018 they had a superb year, finishing fifth, but suffered plenty of issues last year as they struggled for pace at almost every track.
2019 was a difficult year for Grosjean himself as well, as he scored only eight points, his joint lowest in a full season. He only scored points in three races despite often qualifying well.
However, the Frenchman believes his team have found some answers to their 2019 nightmare. He looked ahead to pre-season testing in a Q&A on Haas' website and said: “It’s important to get a good first feel of the car. You want to feel comfortable in a new car. We’re normally quite effective at knowing quickly if the car is good or not.
"We’ve also learned a lot from 2019, when testing went well, but the rest of the season not so much. I think issues were masked by the fact that we had been fast in Barcelona at the start of the year. Then in some races we were fast but in others not. We’ll use testing to cover as many different scenarios as we can.”
