Honda say they can make "a step forward" with their engine in 2020
Honda say they can make another improvement in 2020 in the engine race after huge strides were made in 2019. Supplying both Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso, Honda's engine is more on a level playing field with their rivals than before, and technical director Toyoharu Tanabe says they can improve even more.
Honda's progress was shown on track when Pierre Gasly managed to out-drag Lewis Hamilton on the run to the line in Brazil, claiming his first podium finish in the sport.
Tanabe said at Alpha Tauri's launch: "The technical regulations relating to the PU have hardly hanged since last year.
"Therefore, we have been able to make progress based on the experience we gained across all four of our cars in 2019.
"I believe we can make a step forward and our aim is to obtain even better results than we did last year. In any sport, your performance can only be judged in relation to that of your competitors, so until we start racing, it’s impossible to predict just how successful we can be."
