Albon: "I want more fights with the guys in the front"
Alexander Albon is stuck on the sidelines the first day of the winter tests, but he is still satisfied with the progress his teammate Max Verstappen is making with the car.
Albon looks back with satisfaction on his first period at Red Bull Racing. "Belgium was a long time ago," he begins. “A lot has changed since then. I continued with the team and spent the winter with them. So I know them a lot better now and I have been able to improve myself within the team."
"I know the car and the motorcycle a lot better now," continues Albon. “And I know the whole team better now. I don't have one big goal, but several small goals. I want to feel more comfortable in the car. ”
He is asked whether he still remembers a lot about Brazil 2019. He almost took his first podium there with a second-place until Lewis Hamilton tapped him around.
"It is not that I have asked to copy Brazil in the simulator and have driven P2 all the time. I want more of it, more fighting with the guys in the front and grab podiums. It may not be possible to always have a stage, but I want to go for it," he added.
Albon has already talked to his teammate about the new RB16. “The car feels better and Max is happy with it. It is still very early to say much about it. It is only winter testing of course."
