Claire Williams: "We have too little testing"
Claire Williams believes that there is too little testing in Formula 1. The Williams team principal thinks that six days is too little and that it takes a few Grand Prix's for teams to actually get their set ups right.
“I think we have too little," Williams said. "I understand it from a cost control perspective but I think if you only have six days of pre-season testing and to do everything you need to do going into the first few races of the year, it’s not enough.
"We’re a team where you might expect us to be on the other side of the fence because it’s cheaper, but actually it’s not at the end of the day. And regardless of any issue we might have, we would be in favour of having more days of pre-season testing. Not a lot; maybe two or three more days."
Testing is relentless for the teams and they ensure that every minute is spent collecting data out on track. However, if a car crashes then a significant percentage of the time is lost and therefore they are put at a significant disadvantage.
It will be interesting to see if Formula 1 does introduce more testing or if they are forced to make do with what they have got.
