"We couldn't run as much as we wanted" but Max Verstappen happy with morning
Max Verstappen was happy with his morning's work on the penultimate day of testing, despite a spin and not getting as many laps in as he might've liked. Verstappen completed just 28 laps and set the fifth-fastest time of the morning, just under 0.9 seconds behind leader Sebastian Vettel.
There was a bit of weather around on day five of testing, limiting the number of laps the drivers could do, with three red flags also causing delays.
One of those red flags was caused by Verstappen, who told media including GPBlog.com that the spin was his fault, and not the winds: "I looked back on the footage and I clipped two wheels on a damp patch. I tried to use a bit too much road. I didn't see the damp patch so that was the issue.
"It was a bit of a shame about the weather, so we couldn't really run as much as we wanted to but its the same for everyone. Overall it was a positive day, we seemed to be working well.
"I think every day we are improving and learning more about the car and that is exactly what we want to do."
