Franz Tost happy with "positive" testing and Honda's "good progress"
Alpha Tauri boss Franz Tost says that their testing has been all positive so far as they prepare for their first season with their new name. As Toro Rosso in 2019, the team scored two podium finishes and were regular point scorers.
With their new black and white livery, the cars driven by Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat certainly stand out on track and the boss is happy with their progress as we approach the end of the second test.
Tost told media in Barcelona including GPBlog: "Testing is postive. We've been able to run our tests, we're on schedule. We've been able to test aerodynamically, mechanically and in terms of setup. We'll do some race simulations today and tomorrow and then we'll see where we stand."
Tost adds that the team are delighted with the progress Honda have made. The Japanese manufacturer have been working hard to develop their engine to get closer to the top teams.
Tost said: "Much progress in winter months, both power and reliability. Third season now we ate working together, that helps us a lot; the installation of the power unit in the chassis is perfect, it is better integrated. We have found a good package.
"They have made good progress, always depending on the steps of the other engine manufacturers. We have to watch two or three races to see where we are. Honda has certainly taken steps."
