Albon: "It'll be nice to have some grip and fun tomorrow"
Alex Albon remains secretive about Aston Martin Red Bull Racing's plan for the final day of Formula 1 testing in Barcelona. However, the British-Thai driver hinted at having some fun and some grip suggesting that he and Max Verstappen will be allowed to drive with the C5 tyres.
The C5 tyres allow for the faster laps because it is the softest tyre compound. So far, only Ferrari have set a lap on these and Sebastian Vettel didn't produce an eyebrow-raising time. In the final day of testing, teams might be more inclined to take off the sandbags, but Albon doesn't reveal anything.
"We'll see. We've done a lot of running, but more data collecting so it'll be nice to have some grip and some fun tomorrow. No further comment," Albon told GPblog and the rest of the media.
"It's hard to say where we are. It's really windy here which is making it hard to judge. But the car feels good in all conditions. We're pushing to see what the car can do, but there's nothing really to report. Down the grid, there's a lot of spinning because of the wind."
Still work
There's just one full day of testing left before the teams depart for the Australian Grand Prix. But Albon says there's still work to do.
"There's still work. I think we're in that fine-tuning stage and chipping away. Nobody will be 100% ready for Melbourne," he added.
