Bahrain ask teams for list of all employees' recent travel history
- Nicolás Quarles van Ufford
The organisers of the Bahrain Grand Prix have asked all Formula 1 teams to provide a list of their employees who have traveled to countries where the coronavirus is most prominent, with said employees potentially being denied entry to Bahrain.
Not only the teams, but also media members and broadcast crews have been asked to provide their recent traveling history. The race, which is set to take place on March 29th, is in serious danger of being postponed, and the organisers are doing their all to let the event go ahead.
This is why they have requested the whole paddock for the following:
- The names and flight information of all people who have been in any of the following countries in the last 14 days: China (including Hong Kong), Iran, Iraq, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Egypt, Lebanon and Thailand.
- For every person who has been to one of these countries, it has to be communicated which of the countries they've been to, even if it was only on a connecting flihgt.
- All names and flight information who are planning to travel to Bahrain via the United Arab Emirates.
All parties have been to provide this information as quickly as possible. It's not clear what Bahrain are planning to do with said information, but it's very possible certain people will be denied entry to the country. If that's the case, the chances of the race going ahead are very slim, with multiple teams being based in Italy as well as the likes of Pirelli and Dallara (who build chassis).
