Marko: "It cannot be ruled out that we will leave work in the near future"
Helmet Marko, the team advisor for Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, there will be many more races postponed. The Australian Grand Prix has been cancelled, while Formula 1 bosses also postponed races in Bahrain Grand Prix and Vietnam. He expects several more races to follow that will have to look for a new date to race because of COVID-19. Christian Horner, team principal at Red Bull, also expects several races to be postponed and is now prioritising getting everyone back safely.
It's unclear if the Red Bull factory is now completely shut down, because the races that are cancelled, Marko was clear. "We can, of course, continue to develop for 2021, for example. There is certainly enough work to do. But it cannot be ruled out that we will stop work in the near future," Marko told Azertag.
Most important is the safety of the teams
Horner says the top priority is the safety of the teams when they travel home. "The teams will go back before they return to the country of the next Grand Prix. For now, it is important that we can get all employees home safely."
Marko believes it makes sense for Formula 1 to catch up on the missed Grands Prix during the summer break. "I think it makes a lot of sense to catch up with some of the Grands Prix in the summer break in August. Then we have the time." We have to wait and see how much Grands Prix will be postponed. So far, there have been four races looking for a new date, but F1 has already announced that more are likely to follow.
