The Belgian government announced on Wednesday evening that no sporting events may take place in the country until the beginning of September. As the Belgian Grand Prix will take place on the 30th of August, it looks like the race will be postponed. We are waiting for an official announcement, in the meantime the Spa-Francorchamps 24 hour race has been postponed.

Racing in July

The Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race was scheduled for July the 25th and 26th, but that event will not take place. The organisation behind this race, the SRO, has announced shortly after the newly announced measures that they will postpone the race to later in the year. It is the intention that the race will be held in the autumn.

Earlier this year the 6-hour race in the FIA World Endurance Championship was postponed and a week and a half ago it was announced that the new date was the 15th of August . That race will therefore not be able to continue under the new measures, but an official announcement has not yet been made.

It is unclear whether this race and the Grand Prix can be held behind closed doors. That is also under pressure, because for both races there will soon be more than 1,000 staff members and that is an overshoot of another measure.
