Nico Hulkenberg no longer has a seat in Formula 1, as the German driver had to give up his place to Esteban Ocon. As all other teams are already scheduled, the driver will now have to watch from the sidelines. However, there is no lack of ambition, as he hopes to return to the pinnacle of motor racing soon.

My Purpose

In a video conversation with Amanda Davies of CNN, Hulkenberg raises his desire to return to Formula 1: "I want to return to those things in the future, in the near future". Afterwards Davies dives in a bit more, as she receives messages from many channels asking if Hulkenberg will ever return.

The former F1-driver is very clear about that. "We'll see. If it's up to me, because it's still my goal and that's what I'm aiming for". But in the short term there is not something in the pipeline, also because everything is at a standstill because of the corona virus.

"It's hard to say right now, because there are a lot of factors involved. Now everything is turned upside down anyway. But I keep in touch with people, even if it's still a bit early. If there's a chance, I'm sure I'll seize it. If there's a nice interesting opportunity, I'm sure I'll go after it."

Good car

Hulkenberg is the driver who is known for having driven an awful lot of races, but has never been on the podium. That he aims for the highest, like all other drivers, seems obvious, but the German is quite modest in what he sees as a great opportunity.

"A decent car, which gives you the opportunity to compete. Not necessarily for victory, but something you can work with. A car, a weapon, which at least gives you the opportunity to aim for the top ten."
